5 Easy Steps to Perfect Brown Rice
I used to find brown rice difficult to get right. Most of the time it ended up too sticky or mushy. Then I found a fool-proof method that originally came from Saveur Magazine and was later adapted by Pinch My Salt. It works beautifully! Here I have broken it down into five basic steps. For more detailed information check out the links above.
Step 1
Bring water to boil – use four cups water per cup of dry rice. Add salt if desired.
Step 2
Rinse dry rice under cold running water for 30 seconds, swishing grains around with your fingers.
Step 3
Add rice to boiling water. Stir once. Cook rice over medium heat, uncovered for 30 minutes. Stir occasionally.
Step 4
Drain rice quickly (10 seconds). Return to pot and let sit covered off the heat for 10 minutes.
Step 5
Fluff with fork and serve.
