5 Easy Steps to Perfect Brown Rice

If you struggle to get a nice texture when cooking brown rice consider trying these five easy steps. This method originally came from Saveur Magazine and was adapted by Pinch My Salt. It works very well!

Step 1

Bring water to boil – use four cups water per cup of dry rice. Add salt if desired.

Step 2

Rinse dry rice under cold running water for 30 seconds, swishing grains around with your fingers.

Step 3

Add rice to boiling water. Stir once. Cook rice over medium heat, uncovered for 30 minutes. Stir occasionally.

Step 4

Drain rice quickly (10 seconds). Return to pot and let sit covered off the heat for 10 minutes.

Step 5

Fluff with fork and serve.
