Ingredients
Organic kale | 1 large bunch
Organic carrot, finely grated | 1 ea
Garlic, finely chopped | 1 clove
Organic green onions, chopped | 2 ea
Cold pressed olive oil | 1/4 to 1/2 cup
Apple cider vinegar | 3 Tbsp
Pure maple syrup OR unpasteurized honey | 1 Tbsp
Toasted or cold pressed sesame oil | 1 Tbsp
Wheat-free tamari sauce | 2 Tbsp
Nut or seed milk such as hemp or sesame | 1/4 cup
Unrefined grey sea salt | 1/2 tsp
Sesame gomasio OR sesame seeds | 3 Tbsp
Cayenne powder | 1/2 tsp | |
Organic basil | 1 Tbsp | |
Red Star nutritional yeast | 1/4 cup
Organic raw sunflower seeds | 1/4 to 1/2 cup |
Directions
- Wash a big bunch of organic kale with filtered water. Shake off water and cut kale off each side of stalk, then fold together and chop up into bite sized pieces.
- Place in a big bowl. Keep stalks for soup or sautéing.
- Add rest of vegetables to kale.
- Pour on evenly, next six ingredients.
- Sprinkle on evenly, remaining ingredients.
- Toss well and taste.
- Adjust seasonings to your liking and enjoy!
Helpful Hints
- In place of the apple cider vinegar you could try 2 Tbsp lemon juice or 1 Tbsp umeboshi vinegar. Be careful with umeboshi vinegar as it is quite salty.
- If you prefer to use fresh organic basil (such as home grown), use about a handful. Chop into pieces.
- If you are salt sensitive or if you are using the sesame gomasio option, you may wish to reduce the salt in this recipe. Click here for a Wiki-How to make your own gomasio.
- For a fully raw food recipe use the unpasteurized honey and cold pressed (untoasted) sesame oil options.
