About

I LOVE cherries! They are one of my favourite fruits. I look forward to them coming into season every summer. This smoothie is a cherry celebration so decadent you’ll want to make it again.

Servings:  1 large or 2 small

Ingredients

Fresh sweet cherries, pitted 2 cups
Almond extract 1/8 tsp or to taste
Frozen banana 1 ea

Directions

  1. Blend cherries with almond extract until smooth.
  2. Add frozen banana and blend until smooth and creamy.
  3. Garnish if desired and serve.

Helpful Hints

  1. The proportion of fresh to frozen fruit in this recipe means no water or other liquid is required. If using frozen cherries you can either thaw all of them and follow the recipe as directed, or you can thaw half the cherries and swap the frozen banana for a fresh one.
  2. If using fresh cherries consider investing in a cherry pitter #ad. These gadgets make the pitting task so much easier! On a budget? Try this chop stick & bottle method found on Listoic.com.
  3. If you are following an animal-based diet (meat and fruit) you may wish to omit the almond extract or swap in a different flavouring (depending on how strict you need to be).
