About
This hemp milk has a rich, nutty flavour and tastes so much fresher than the pre-packaged variety. Most tetra packed brands contain added gums and sweeteners which you can avoid by making your own. Hulled hemp is somewhat soft so it blends up quickly and easily. Hemp milk is an excellent substitute for dairy or soy milk and is very nutritious to boot. Hemp milk is best consumed raw as heating denatures the essential fatty acids which are an important nutritional element in this food.
Ingredients & Supplies
Ice cold water | 2 1/2 cups | |
Raw hulled hemp seed | 1 cup | |
Unbleached coffee filter (basket style) OR nut milk bag |
Directions for Regular Blender
- Place ingredients in blender and whiz on highest speed for a few minutes or until smooth.
- Strain through an unbleached coffee filter or nut milk bag if desired.
Vitamix Directions
- If you are using a Vitamix, replace one cup of the water with one cup of ice to ensure hemp milk stays cold.
- Walk speed up to high and blend for about two minutes. Straining should not be necessary.
