Panfried Cabbage

If you’re looking for a simple, cost-effective vegetable side dish, consider this quick & easy panfried cabbage. Great with sausages, pork chops, grilled tempeh or baked beans! Serves 4.

Ingredients

Oil 2 Tbsp
Butter (or plant-based equivalent) 2 Tbsp
Medium head of cabbage, coarsely shredded About 12 cups
White granulated sugar 1 tsp
Caraway seeds 1/2 tsp
Salt 1/2 tsp
Black pepper 1/8 tsp
Minced parsley to taste

Directions

  1. Heat oil & butter in large skillet.
  2. Divide cabbage into three equal parts. Add 1/3 cabbage to skillet stirring over medium-high heat. As soon as it starts to cook down, add next 1/3. Continue with final 1/3 and stir until all cabbage is well coated & slightly wilted.
  3. Sprinkle with sugar.  Cook 5 to 10 minutes or until cabbage is delicately browned and crisp-tender, stirring occasionally.
  4. Stir in salt, caraway seed and pepper. Sprinkle with parsley.
