Tofu Burgers

This recipe was found in the shared recipe archives of Dr. D’Adamo’s website – creator of the Blood Type Diet. It is designed to be compatible with Blood Type A. That said, anyone on a vegetarian or vegan diet will enjoy this burger! They are good freshly made or leftover and cold.

Ingredients
Extra firm tofu | 1 lb | |
Cooked brown rice | 1/2 cup | |
Dry bread crumbs | 1/2 cup | |
Chopped scallions | 1/4 cup | |
Egg whites | 2 ea | |
Grated carrots | 1/4 cup | |
Grated low fat mozzarella cheese (or soy cheese) | 1/2 cup | |
Soy sauce | 2 Tbsp | |
Ground walnuts (optional) | 2 Tbsp |
Directions
- Mash tofu.
- Mix all ingredients thoroughly.
- Form patties and sauté in skillet sprayed with olive oil.
- Cook until golden.
Editor’s Note
- If you are on a dairy-free diet and using the soy cheese option be sure to check the label as some soy cheeses have dairy-based ingredients. Casein, a milk protein, is one example of a common ingredient in soy cheese. Brands that are completely dairy-free are appearing more and more in the marketplace but you should still check the ingredients carefully.
